Our founders are kicking off our first annual Anniversary Month with a special celebration at LegaSea. Join us for a chance to meet the founders of LegaSea Aquarium as they reflect on an incredible first year, share memorable moments, and celebrate all that is ahead.

Hear how one family’s mission to educate people about animals on YouTube grew into one of the most-followed zoos on the internet.

Discover how the dream of combining interactive reptile experiences with aquatic life and mammals moved forward with the heartbreaking loss of a visionary founder, ultimately leading to the creation of Michigan’s newest aquarium and zoo through the power of community.

Get ready for kickoff and help us celebrate LegaSea Aquarium’s one-year anniversary with a special LegaSea Football Tailgate! Bring the whole family and join us for an evening of football-themed fun, games, food, music, and good times before the 8:20 PM Detroit Lions away game.

Parking & Arrival

Check in is from 3:30-4:00PM. Tailgate parking will begin in the back parking lot of LegaSea Aquarium. If additional parking is needed, we may open the front parking lot for event guests.

Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and settle in for the evening.

What to Expect

Enjoy a festive, family-friendly game-day atmosphere featuring:

  • Music and game-day vibes
  • Cornhole and football-themed yard games for all ages
  • Classic tailgate food, including hot dogs and snacks (additional will be available for purchase)
  • Designated station available for purchase of beer for guests 21+ with valid ID
  • Lions-themed fun -  guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Lions gear
  • A FREE commemorative event badge:
    “I Kicked Off One Year at LegaSea Football Tailgate”

The event is open to all ages, so bring your family and friends and enjoy some pre-game fun together.

Game viewing is not guaranteed, so plan to head out after the tailgate wraps up at 7:00 PM if you're watching the Lions game at home or elsewhere.

We're ready for game day, rain or shine. If weather conditions aren't suitable for an outdoor tailgate, we'll move the festivities indoors at LegaSea Aquarium so the fun can continue.
